First 48 Hours

I've been in Amman a little over 48 hours and I've already fell in love with the city! The people, food, culture and landscape make Amman so beautiful and joyful. Before I get into what I've been up to, let me tell you a little about the family I've been staying with. One of my mothers best friends that she grew up with in Saudi, Randa, lives in Amman so naturally her along with her husband, Moe, and daughter, Mayce welcomed me into their home. They have been so kind and helpful with everything, I can already tell I'm going to miss them when I leave.

Within the first two days I've done many things and met a lot of people.  I went to the club during the day on June 8th to hang out and it turned out the awards for the Jordan Rally were being given out. I quickly learned that the royal family loves race cars since King Abdullah's brother was giving out the awards. Second and third place went to Jordanian teams, but a Lebanese team won first place!
The Lebanese team!
Also last night (June 8) I attended a huge birthday party for Randa's sister. It was a very glamorous event with a DJ, servers, delicious food and some of the most wealthiest people in Amman. I had a great time and met a lot of nice people.

Today (June 9) I went to the first circle with Randa and Moe. We walked around and they pointed out many interesting places. These places included embassies, art galleries, important buildings, different foundations and restaurants...

I am now officially Jordanian because I have 2 phones!

Here are some important and interesting things I've learned about Amman so far:
  • 8 circles make up Amman. They are like roundabouts that started being constructed at 1 and ended at 8.
  • There are Jordanian flags everywhere!
  • People drive like maniacs and pedestrians do not have the right of way.
  • I thought everyone was conservative, but a good amount of people are not.
  • There are certain areas where it is acceptable to wear tank-tops and more revealing clothes and other areas is it completely inappropriate.
  • Young men are always staring and whistling at girls, but I’m used to it. It reminds me of the Sauds at SDSU haha.
Tomorrow I'm moving into the apartment with 5 other girls and the following day more adventures will take place!
